THINGS TO DO IN THE REGION
Close to the Kumeu & Matakana wine areas. Within Auckland, there are three distinctive geographical wine regions that make the most of the area’s geographical diversity, mineral-rich volcanic soils, and mild temperatures; these are Waiheke Island, Matakana, Kumeu/West Auckland.
Orewa is the gateway to the Hibiscus Coast. The long stretch of beach is perfect for swimming, kayaking, kitesurfing, windsurfing, boating and fishing. Hit the shops to pick up arts and gifts or kick back at one of the numerous cafés and restaurants – many with a view. Or visit nearby Wenderholm, one of Auckland’s most popular regional parks.
